CHILD SAFETY INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

WARNING – CURTAIN & BLIND CORDS HAVE CAUSED THE DEATH OF YOUNG CHILDREN AND MUST BE INSTALLED SO THAT THEY ARE NOT A STRANGULATION HAZARD. FOLLOW THE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS.

To avoid creating a possible strangulation hazard for children, the corded internal window covering must be installed in such a way that a loose cord cannot form a loop 220mm or longer at the height of less than 1600mm above floor level.
A cord guide may be installed lower that 1600mm above floor level if the cord is sufficiently secured or tensioned to prevent a loop220mm or longer from being formed.
If a cord guide is installed lower than 1600mm above floor level, it must be designed to prevent a child from being able to remove the cord.
If a cleat is used to secure the cord, it must be at least 1600mm above floor level because a child is capable of unwinding a cord from a cleat.

Installation:

  1. Pass the cord and/or chain trough the bottom of the cord/chain safe device.
  2. Select the screw appropriate to the surface you are fixing to. (If we have provided you with the screw, it is for installation into the timber. If there is no screw provided, or if the provided screw is not appropriate for the type of surface you wish to install it into, you need to provide your own screw)
  3. Pull down with light tension until cord and/or chain cannot form a loop of 220mm or longer at the height of less than 1600mm above floor level.
  4. Screw the cord/chain safe device into place.

If you are not at home, or if no one is available to accept delivery, the driver should leave your blinds in the safest, most sheltered place and, if possible, take a photo as proof of delivery. If blinds are left unattended and not signed for because no one was available to accept delivery, we will not accept responsibility or claims for any damage the blinds may have sustained while left unattended, or if they are stolen after being delivered to your nominated place of delivery.

Maintenance Info:

A regular hand-held vacuum with low suction is suggested. Avoid pulling or stretching the fabric when vacuuming. Rigorous vacuuming is not recommended since this could distort the fabric. When needed, the fabric can be cleaned by gently blotting with a soft, damp cloth or sponge, using warm soapy water mildew resistant. Do not apply to much pressure to the fabric. Be careful not to wet the fabric too much.

Note: Roller Blind measurements are “PIN to PIN” which means from the outer edge of the left bracket to the outer edge of the right bracket. As a result of this, your blind fabric will be up to 2cm narrower on each side than the blind width ordered, and you will have a little bit of light entering the room through these little gaps on the sides. This is a characteristic of the roller blinds design, and it is standard for all roller blinds across the window furnishing industry. All roller blinds will have additional fabric to make sure the tube is not exposed when unrolled completely. This will also prevent the separation of the material from the tube. To reduce the amount of light that enters your room, please consider ordering your blinds as an outside mount.
