(various guides are available)

Our store is open 24/7 so you can explore or purchase blinds at the time that it suits you.

How to measure for ROLLER BLINDS - blockout, sunscreen and light filtering?

THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE YOU START MEASURING

  • Always use a steel measuring tape,
  • Always measure to the nearest millimetre and don't make any measurement deductions, if necessary, our factory will make all the deductions so your blinds can fit perfectly,
  • Always measure from Left side to the Right side of your window or a door,
  • Always clearly indicate which measurement is the WIDTH and which is the HEIGHT. It is very common to swap measurements if you are not careful, so always indicate the WIDTH measurement first, then the HEIGHT last (W x H).
  • Always measure all windows, even those windows that appear to be the same width and height.

We will custom make your blinds to the sizes you write on the order. If these sizes are not correct it is impossible to change the blind(s) so please take your time and double check your measurements before ordering.

MEASURING INSIDE MOUNT FOR ROLLER BLINDS

WIDTH: Measure your window width in 3 places: Top, Middle and Bottom, always measuring from left side to the right side. Write down the smallest width that you have measured (1232mm, 1231mm, 1232mm) as that is the width you need to order.

HEIGHT: Measure your height in the Middle from the top of the inside of the window to the base of the sill. Write down the height that you have recorded as this is the height you need to order.

Remember, do not make any allowances, if necessary this will be done by our factory.

IMPORTANT: You need to have enough window depth to mount the blind(s) inside the window. The sufficient and unobstructed window depth is 60mm. For the larger blinds with bigger drop the required window depth will be 70+mm as they will have thicker tube as well as more fabric on the roll. If either case, if the window depth is less than required, that could impact the smooth operation of blinds or it could result in the blinds protruding out of the window frame.

MEASURING OUTSIDE MOUNT FOR ROLLER BLINDS

WIDTH: Measure your window at the top of your window architrave, always measuring from left side to the right side. Write down the width that you have measured as that is the width you need to order.

HEIGHT: Measure the height from the top of the architrave down to where you want your blind to finish. Write down the height that you have measured as this is the height you need to order.

Remember, do not make any allowances, if necessary this will be done by our factory.

MEASURING OUTSIDE MOUNT WHERE THE WINDOW DOES NOT HAVE ARCHITRAVES:

WIDTH: Measure the opening width of your window and then add minimum 50mm each side. This way the blind will go pass the window opening and you will achieve better light and privacy control.

HEIGHT: Measure the opening height of your window and then add minimum 90-100mm to the drop. This way the blind will go pass the window opening and you will achieve better light and privacy control.

Remember not to make any allowances, if necessary this will be done by our factory.

How to measure for DOUBLE ROLLER BLINDS?

There is three Combination Rolls for Double Roller Blinds:

  • FRONT ROLLED BLINDS: This is where all blinds have been front rolled
  • BACK ROLLED BLINDS: This is where all blinds have been back rolled
  • MIX ROLLED BLINDS: This is where one blind has been back rolled and the other one front rolled or vice versa.

When it comes to deciding which blind to put at the front and which one to put at the back this would be the rule of thumb: Sunscreen Blind goes at the back (closest to the glass) and Blockout Blind goes at the front.
In some cases people that order blinds for outside mount, they could put blockout blind at the back (closest to the glass) and sunscreen blind at the front. The reason for this is so that blockout blind sits as close as possible to the window. This way greater privacy as well as light control can be achieved.

We have 4 Types of double brackets. Three that automatically come with your blinds are Standard, Medium and Large Size. The only one you will need to select when making a purchase will be Slimline. Slimline is designed to fit inside the window that does not have enough depth required for blind installation.

DOUBLE BRACKET SIZE EXPLANATION:

  • Standard Size: For Standard size roller blinds. (EXAMPLE: 1400mm X 1200mm). Required mounting depth is 100mm.
  • Medium Size: When the blinds are wide and have long drop (EXAMPLE: 2200mm X 2100mm). Required mounting depth is 110mm.
  • Large Size: When the blinds are wide and the drop is extra-long (Example: 2600mm X 2800mm).Required mounting depth is 120mm.
  • Slimline Double Brackets Size: Where the blinds are standard or medium size but the window depth is insufficient for the traditional double brackets. Required mounting depth is 75mm.

Your Blinds can have Chain Control on the Left Side, Right Side or Mixed Sides (one is left the other is right).

How to measure for ROMAN BLINDS?

THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE YOU START MEASURING

  • Always use a steel measuring tape,
  • Always measure to the nearest millimetre and don't round your measurements,
  • Always measure from Left side to the Right side of your window,
  • Always clearly indicate which measurement is the WIDTH and which is the HEIGHT. It is very common to swap measurements if you are not careful, so always indicate the WIDTH measurement first, then the HEIGHT last (W x H).

MEASURING OUTSIDE MOUNT FOR ROMAN BLINDS

WIDTH: Measure the top of the architrave, always measuring from left side to the right side. Write down the width that you have measured + add 50-100mm each side of the window if the space allows. The reason for this is so the greater light control and privacy can be achieved.

EXAMPLE:

Width 1000mm+50mm+50mm = 1100mm <<< WIDTH YOU NEED TO ORDER

HEIGHT: For Elevated Windows, measure the drop from the top to the bottom of the architrave + add 50-100mm to the drop. If you window has extra protruding window sill, measure your drop to the sill so it sits right on it and do not add any drop length to it.
For Full Length Windows, measure from the top of the architrave to 20mm above the floor. This will allow enough room for your fabric to settle and stretch over time.

EXAMPLE FOR ELEVATED WINDOW:

Drop 1600mm + 50mm = 1650mm <<< DROP YOU NEED TO ORDER

EXAMPLE FOR FULL LENGHT WINDOW:

Drop 2100mm - 20mm = 2080mm= <<< DROP YOU NEED TO ORDER

IMPORTANT: We will not make any size adjustments, the measurements that you provide us with will be the measurements we will use to manufacture your blind(s). In addition to this, if you want to maximise your view and raise your roman blind above the architrave, the height of a roman blind when stacked is around 300 - 400mm. Please take this into consideration when measuring your roman blinds drop.

MEASURING OUTSIDE MOUNT FOR VERTICAL BLINDS:

WIDTH: Measure your window at the top of your window architrave, always measuring from left side to the right side. Write down the width that you have measured + add 50-100mm to each side of the window, this is the width you need to order. This is done so you can achieve better light and privacy control.

HEIGHT: Measure the height from the top of the architrave down to floor. Write down the height that you have measured and then subtract 10mm of the drop to allow enough room for the blind to operate. This is the height you need to order.
